Muatide health centre without Wlwater since the end of the rainy season

The largest health centre in Muidumbe District, Cabo Delgado Province, has been facing a crisis for more than two months due to the lack of potable water for use at the facility.

According to reports from several staff members, the problem stems from an unpaid debt dating back to last year, which led to the suspension of the water supply to this key health facility in Muidumbe District.

Employees claim that the health authorities have done little to resolve the situation and accuse officials of poor management of public resources, particularly regarding the water supply crisis.

In addition to the water shortage, the health facility has allegedly stopped providing meals to hospitalized patients, a situation that has reportedly persisted for several months.

“This lack of water has not only disrupted basic activities but has also directly affected patients seeking healthcare services at the facility, who are being confronted with very poor sanitation conditions,” a staff member said in a message sent to Mozanorte.

A second employee echoed the same concerns, adding that despite the challenges, the hospital administration must do everything possible to provide safe drinking water, warning that the current situation could lead to outbreaks of various diseases. (Mozanorte)
