On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the 10th Ordinary Session of the Provincial Executive Council was held, with the participation of the Provincial Directorate of Transport and Communications and the Road Transport Operators Association of Cabo Delgado.
On the occasion, the Governor of Cabo Delgado Province, Valige Tauabo, recommended that sectors linked to transport adopt more coordinated mechanisms that are better aligned with the realities of the province when setting road transport fares.
During the meeting, the governor emphasized the need to find balanced solutions that ensure the sustainability of transport operations without negatively affecting the province’s population.
The proposal for transport fares on the various routes across the province will be submitted to the Cabo Delgado Provincial Assembly for review and approval.
The people of Cabo Delgado expressed satisfaction with the governor’s decision, noting that unjustified increases in transport fares have been recorded in recent days.
The concern is even greater in districts located farther from the provincial capital, Pemba, such as Nangade, Palma, and Mocímboa da Praia, among others. (BP)
