Video allegedly shows patient sleeping on cardboard at Nampula Central Hospital

A video circulating on social media appears to show a patient accommodation area at Nampula Central Hospital, where a piece of cardboard can be seen placed on the floor.

The man recording the video identifies himself as Nuro Alberto Ferrão, a public employee, and claims that he and his wife contribute more than 10,000 meticais monthly.

While filming the location, he questions the conditions allegedly provided to him, saying: “A piece of cardboard for me to sleep on until Tuesday. I am sick. What will happen to me?”

He further claims that when he sought clarification from nurses, he was allegedly told to “do whatever you want” or contact the hospital director.

However, there is currently no independent confirmation that the location shown in the video is indeed at Nampula Central Hospital, nor of the circumstances surrounding the situation described.

The hospital’s management may clarify the content of the video and the accommodation conditions provided to patients.

Meanwhile, Nampula Governor Eduardo Abdula and his wife, Nazira Abdula, reportedly provided a container of mattresses to help address the situation over the weekend. (Jaime Paculeque)
