INSS in Ancuabe now has its own premises

On Friday, 9 October this year, the new Service Centre (PA) building of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) was inaugurated in Ancuabe, Cabo Delgado Province. The ceremony was attended by the Provincial Secretary of State, Plácido Nerino Pereira.

According to the information presented, the facility was purpose-built to provide better services to users and bring social security services closer to the populations of Ancuabe and the neighbouring district of Meluco.

“Currently, INSS in this southern region of Cabo Delgado Province, covering the districts of Ancuabe and Meluco, has 116 contributors (employers), 2,156 beneficiaries (workers), 130 self-employed workers (TCP) and 29 pensioners,” said Plácido Pereira.

He further noted that the opening of the new premises represents an important step towards decentralising social security services. It will help reduce travel distances and costs for users seeking access to the nearest services, while improving the quality and dignity of services provided to contributors, beneficiaries and pensioners.

The Provincial Secretary of State highlighted the need to expand social protection coverage by encouraging self-employed workers, including those operating in the informal sector, to join the system. He also called for stronger awareness campaigns and wider dissemination of information about the benefits available to registered members, as well as greater flexibility to facilitate the enrolment of this group of workers.

The official also emphasised the importance of registering with the social security system and paying contributions regularly to ensure future protection, particularly in cases of incapacity for work or reduced working capacity.

With the inauguration of this building, Cabo Delgado Province now has seven purpose-built INSS-owned buildings, including the provincial delegation headquarters, four district delegations and two service centres.

Construction is currently underway on the buildings for the district delegations in Mocímboa da Praia and Palma, as well as the Muidumbe service centre.

“The Macomia District Delegation building is still awaiting inauguration, although construction work has already been completed,” he stated.

Meanwhile, workers and traders from the districts of Ancuabe and Meluco welcomed the initiative, noting that they previously had to pay for transport and meals to travel to the cities of Pemba and Chiúre to settle their matters with INSS. (Abel Buruhane)
