Cabo Delgado: Mocimboa da Praia now became the silent pain for Mumu residents

In the village of Mumu, in the district of Mocímboa da Praia, Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique, fear and sadness have taken over a community that was already facing many hardships due to past terrorist attacks.

This is because, on the night of last Thursday, the 23rd, groups of criminals invaded the village and, in a cruel act, kidnapped seven children, all boys.

The residents are crying and desperate, trying to flee from yet another ordeal.

Moreover, in the same village, a man returning from his mother-in-law’s funeral was brutally murdered by these criminals.

Since the 23rd, the families of Mumu have been seeking refuge in the bush, where they sleep under the open sky, without the slightest sense of security, while waiting for a solution that seems far away.

Meanwhile, the rest of the population is hiding in the bush, facing a lack of food, water, and protection. Nights, which should be for rest, have once again become moments of terror, with eyes alert to any suspicious movement or sound. "No one can sleep," said a local resident. (Armando Kapemba)
