Movement of alleged terrorists stirs part of Meluco

They did not attack, but were seen between Unguia and Muaguide, Meluco district, Cabo Delgado province, northern of Mozambique by a group of monkey hunters, who fled when called, so they are circulating in that area.

On the afternoon of Friday, February 14, some villages in the district of Meluco, considered a sanctuary of flora, experienced fear and panic after reports of terrorist activity, particularly in the area between the village of Unguia and the administrative center of Muaguide.

According to reports obtained by Mozanorte, the villages of Muaguide, Unguia, Mitambo, and 19 de Outubro (the latter in the district of Quissanga) went into panic due to the situation.

Informants indicated that a large group of terrorists was allegedly seen by a group of hunters who were moving between the villages of Muaguide and Unguia, prompting them to immediately return to their homes in Unguia and report what had happened.

The presence of terrorists in Meluco is not a new situation in recent days, with incursions in Ravia, Ncoripo, and creating fearful situations in the district headquarters and the village of Minhanha. (Mozanorte)
