As predicted, Cyclone Jude hit the districts of Nampula with great force, including the capital city. Authorities report that at least ten locations have been affected, including the provincial capital.
Mozanorte has learned that, in other parts of Niassa and Cabo Delgado, the phenomenon is described as moderate, with no reports of significant damage so far. Residents report heavy but moderate rainfall, with a tendency to normalize.
In Nampula province, the situation is different. In addition to destruction, there have been reports of deaths at least two people injuries, and several people forced to evacuate their homes to safer locations.
The deaths were recorded in the city of Nampula and in the
district of Moma. Destruction of infrastructure has been reported in various
affected districts.
In the city, there is also damage to a hotel, the public
transport system is completely halted, and there has been a power outage. A
total of 436,397 customers are without electricity, according to data from
