Joyce Banda and Ivódio Paulo have expressed their concern about the situation, describing it as alarming, since two crocodiles have been roaming the beach, putting at risk the lives of people who depend on the lake water for various activities.
"These crocodiles have been roaming the beach for weeks now. I don’t know what to do because this is where we get our water, wash our clothes, and bathe, even the children," said Joyce Banda.
In the same vein, Joyce Banda explained that the crocodiles frequent the area when there are fewer people around, in order to capture their victims. On the other hand, she is calling for authorities to intervene and eliminate the crocodiles before something worse happens.
"These two crocodiles appear when they see that there are few people on the beach, so they can attack anyone who is alone. The authorities responsible for wildlife should help us before someone is attacked by a crocodile," Banda added.
It is worth mentioning that last year, a
12-year-old child became a victim of a crocodile, sustaining leg injuries while
washing dishes at the beach in the Sanjala neighborhood of Metangula town.
