On February 3, 2025, the
village of Mpire, located in the Metuge district of Cabo Delgado, northern
Mozambique, was the scene of a mysterious incident involving a young man who,
according to reports, allegedly had the ability to transform into an animal.
The case involved a series of strange and supernatural events that left the
local community perplexed.
According to residents of
the village, the young man in question, who lived in a neighboring village, was
supposedly the victim of a curse cast by his grandmother, which allegedly
transformed him into an animal, specifically a gazelle. The reason for the
curse remains unknown, sparking a series of speculations in the region.
After undergoing this
transformation, the young man is said to have fled his original village and
headed towards the village of Mpire, where he was spotted in his animal form.
Local hunters, known for their skill in capturing wild animals, soon noticed
the presence of the creature in the area. Armed with traps, they managed to
capture the animal, which turned out to be the young man in his transformed
state.
The situation took a tragic
turn when the young man’s mother, upon being informed of her son's capture,
traveled to Mpire in search of him. However, upon arriving at the village, the
woman found her son already dead, having been captured by the hunters.
Desperate, she asked the villagers to at least give her her son's bones so she
could bury him properly.
This incident caused great
uproar in the Mpire community, where many are still trying to understand what
actually happened and questioning the boundaries between superstition and
reality. The young man's transformation into a gazelle and his subsequent death
have fueled a series of rumors and discussions about mystical practices and
local beliefs, turning the case into a true mystery for both the authorities
and the villagers in the region.
As of now, there are no
official clarifications about the event, and local authorities are expected to
investigate the circumstances surrounding the young man's death, as well as the
allegations of witchcraft involving his grandmother. (Seven Mussa)
