Circulation of armed men in Niassa Special Reserve area triggers alarm

Alleged circulation of armed men has triggered alarm within the Niassa Special Reserve, in northern Mozambique, but the competent authorities have not yet commented since the reports began circulating on April 19th.

A source described to Mozanorte that although the situation is relatively calm, fear has set in "That was on Sunday, but it was on the other bank of Cabo Delgado and not here in Niassa. It's the Kamboco area, it really belongs to the reserve zone," the source said.

The same source assured that workers and the community have not moved from their workplaces or their communities.

He indicated that since the area was surrounded by terrorists, as in the case of Nairoto and Montepuez, there is every reason to say that it is the same group.

As a reserve area and in the highlighted Kambaco area, it is a very attractive location in terms of tourism. (Mozanorte)
