Quissanga residents live in fear of elephants damaging crops

The population of the Quissanga district in Cabo Delgado province in northern of Mozambique continues to live in fear due to the constant presence of elephants that have been causing significant damage to crops.

Residents of the localities of Nacoba and Arimba report difficulties in dealing with these animals, which, because of their size and destructive nature, have compromised agricultural production in the region.

Last Sunday, around 4 PM, a young man traveling between Arimba and Nacoba had an unexpected encounter with a group of elephants.

He told Mozanorte that he almost fell from his motorcycle when he came across the animals, but fortunately, they did not attack him and moved on to another area of the forest.

The inhabitants are concerned about the negative impact that the presence of elephants is having on agricultural production.

This year, productivity is already considered low, and the damage caused by the animals further exacerbates the situation.

The community is calling for effective solutions to address this issue that threatens their livelihood and safety. Seven Mussa
