Mozambique records 462 terrorism convictions since 2017, according to the Attorney General’s Office

The Attorney General of the Republic, Américo Letela, revealed that 462 individuals have been convicted of terrorism-related crimes in Mozambique since the start of armed attacks in 2017 in the province of Cabo Delgado.

The information was presented this Wednesday in the Assembly of the Republic during the submission of the General Report for 2025, in the section dedicated to the prevention and fight against organized and transnational crime.

According to the magistrate, the figures reflect the scale of the judicial authorities’ efforts in confronting terrorism, at a time when the country continues to face challenges related to security and the activities of organized criminal networks. (Mozanorte)
