Terrorism has not prevented young people in Cabo Delgado from Jljoining Compulsory Military Service

This week, Cabo Delgado Province bid farewell to 554 young recruits selected for Compulsory Military Service, who will be deployed to training centers of the Mozambique Defence Armed Forces (FADM). The number demonstrates that, despite the challenges posed by terrorism in the region, hundreds of young people remain willing to answer the nation's call.

The farewell ceremony took place at the Pemba Naval School, where the future soldiers expressed their readiness to serve the country with discipline, loyalty, and dedication. They pledged to defend national sovereignty, safeguard the country's territorial integrity, and contribute to the consolidation of peace and stability.

Out of approximately 900 candidates who participated in the selection process, only 554 met the requirements for admission into the FADM. The recruits will be assigned to six military training centers located across different parts of the country, where they will begin their military preparation.

On the occasion, the Secretary of State for Cabo Delgado, Plácido Pereira, emphasized that wearing the military uniform means accepting one of the nation's highest responsibilities. He encouraged the recruits to uphold patriotism, discipline, and commitment throughout their training and future military careers. (Mozanorte)
