In
2024, the district of Mueda, in Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique, exported a
total of 10,835 tons of cash crops, with a focus on sesame and cashew nuts.
Of
this total, 4,599 tons of cashews were sent to the districts of Chiúre and
Nangade, also in the province of Cabo Delgado, and 3,152 tons were exported to
neighboring Tanzania.
During
the same period, 3,184 tons of sesame were directed to the Nacala region, in
the neighboring province of Nampula.
These
results are part of the Commercialization Campaign under the 2023/2024
agricultural season, as explained by the government spokesperson, Celso da Cruz
Mário, during the 12th ordinary session of the District Government, held last
December.
He
added that, in addition to exports, around 105 tons of crops were also
processed locally. (Mozanorte)
