An employee of the company Yola Segurança, assigned to the post at the Cimentos de Moçambique factory in Nacala-Porto, is accused of shooting two individuals who were on the premises around 2 a.m. One of them, identified as Abuchir Sulehe, 23 years old, did not survive the injuries and died at the scene, while the other is seriously injured and was detained, according to local sources.
The incident sparked
outrage among the residents of the Mucuaíba neighborhood, who gathered in
protest at Cimentos de Moçambique, demanding justice for the young man's death
and threatening to take matters into their own hands.
Witnesses claim that
one of the security guards had called the victims early in the morning,
allegedly to collect metal from the factory. When the young men entered the
premises, the supervisor from Yola Segurança reportedly arrived at the same
time. In response to the situation, the security guard allegedly opened fire,
resulting in the death of one of the young men.
“We are here
demanding justice because our brother was killed. If they called him to pick up
the metal, we want an explanation. Otherwise, we will take action on our own,”
said the protesters.
Our reporting team
attempted to contact the management of Yola Segurança and Cimentos de
Moçambique for clarification, but were unsuccessful, with claims that they were
meeting with the families of the victims.
According
to residents, incidents of deaths caused by gunfire from the company’s security
guards are recurring. Recently, two minors were also reportedly shot by agents
of the same security company. (Gabriel Cassimo)
