The
health center in Muchepa, located in the Meluluca administrative post in the
Lago district, Niassa, was built and completed at the end of last year. Since
then, the authorities have yet to comment on when the health unit will start
operating.
This
situation is causing concern among the local population, who are hoping to
reduce the distance they have to travel to the Meluluca health center, which is
about 5 kilometers away.
Some
citizens, who chose to remain anonymous, say they have no information about
when the health unit will open to ease the suffering of the population,
especially during this rainy season.
"Our
concern here in Muchenga is about this health center, which had a 90-day
deadline for construction. Now it has been about 4 months since the work was
finished, and when we ask, they don’t give us any answers. We suffer a lot
going to Meluluca, especially during this rainy period. Crossing the river is a
big problem," the citizens lamented.
Mozanorte’s report sought information from
the district health service, and we were informed that the district health
director visited Muchepa this Wednesday to assess the condition of the work.
Subsequently, the district government will announce when the delivery will take
place. (Davide Muianga)
