Several sources confirmed on Wednesday (30th) that some areas
within the Niassa Special Reserve, in northern Mozambique, were attacked on
April 29, just ten days after the April 19 attack.
The sources report casualties among members of the defense and
security forces following a confrontation with the group, which wore uniforms
typically used by the rangers who monitor the conservation area.
The same sources stated that, in addition to property being
burned, several residents within the conservation area were forced to flee to
safer locations, with most seeking refuge in the district headquarters of
Mecula. This district had experienced terrorist attacks in previous years,
allegedly led by a radicalized youth from the Niassa province.
The jihadists reportedly acquired various items during the
previous attack (on April 19), including uniforms, communication radios, and
means of transport. (Mozanorte)
