The Mozambican Republic Police (PRM) in Niassa announced this Monday, in Lichinga, the arrest of a woman and her 24-year-old son, accused of murdering a man in the district of Cuamba.
According to the spokesperson for the PRM Provincial Command in Niassa, Nelson de Souza, the victim was the woman’s brother and the young man’s uncle. Preliminary information indicates that the suspects allegedly assaulted the man and then poured hot maize porridge over him, causing severe burns that led to his death at the scene.
Nelson de Souza explained that the individuals involved had ongoing disagreements, which may have motivated the crime.
In another case also reported in Cuamba, the PRM confirmed the discovery of the lifeless body of a 19-year-old woman found at a construction site. According to authorities, the body showed signs of sexual violence.
Police stated that investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators and clarify the circumstances surrounding the crime.
