Two months after suspending its operations due to a mechanical fault, the vessel Chambo resumed navigation this Tuesday (16/12/2025) on the waters of Lake Niassa.
The boat had been out of service for about two months because of a technical problem. According to Fernando António Lopes, the vessel’s administrator, the suspension aimed to preserve human lives and improve the quality of services provided.
“In fact, we had to suspend the activities of the Chambo due to technical reasons, and in order to ensure people’s safety, it was necessary to take the vessel to Tanzania for repairs,” he explained.
Suzana Sahela, one of the passengers, expressed satisfaction with the return of the boat, noting that it will facilitate the transportation of people and goods, especially during the rainy season. According to her, travelling by road to the coastal areas of the district has been difficult due to the region’s geographical conditions. (Davide Muianga)
