Mueda, Cabo Delgado – In
2024, just over 700 children in the District of Mueda in Cabo Delgado have
stopped studying outdoors and sitting on the ground, thanks to the construction
of new benches and Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) in various schools
throughout the region.
Victoria Atanásio, the
Coordinator of the District Service for Education, Youth, and Technology in
Mueda, announced on Monday that the district received 54 double desks donated
by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). These desks were allocated to the Nanhala
Primary School. Additionally, through a local initiative, 32 benches were
constructed in the Namau area.
To address the shortage of
classrooms, Victoria highlighted that approximately 15 TLS were built in 2024
with the support of the non-governmental organization Plan International. These
measures have been crucial in improving learning conditions and ensuring that
children can study in a more suitable and comfortable environment.
Students have expressed
their satisfaction and are appealing to the government to create more
conditions aimed at enhancing the teaching and learning process. (Mozanorte)
