The water storage tank tower,
which was inaugurated just a few days ago by the district administrator,
collapsed in the Chimbunila District, Niassa province, northern Mozambique.
The population, who had
expressed relief from the suffering of accessing the precious liquid in the
Lumbi-1 community, was shocked when, on Tuesday (11.03), they saw the
infrastructure of the small system destroyed.
The incident occurred just one
week after the official handover to the population by the District
Administrator, Saleão Gabriel.
The residents point to the poor
quality of the construction as the cause of the collapse. The system had also
been built recently.
The collapsed tower is located
near a school. However, there are no reports of human casualties. (Jaime Paculeque)
