The District Command of the Mozambican Republic Police (PRM) in
Mueda has reported a 100% response rate
to all operational cases registered during the first half of 2025. This
achievement comes despite significant logistical and structural challenges that
continue to affect police work on the ground.
This information was presented in a report during the new
district administrator's visit to the local command, where they discussed the
police force's progress, limitations, and operational outlook.
Key Challenges facing the Force
Among the main challenges
highlighted in the report is a lack
of transportation across all five local commands in the district. This
shortage hinders the timely deployment of police teams in emergencies. The
document also points out the need for proper facilities at administrative posts
in Negomano, Chapa, Ngapa, and Imbuho,
as well as insufficient funds for the functioning of Operational Information
Services.
Reduced Crime Despite Obstacles
Despite these adverse
conditions, the Mueda police recorded a reduction
in criminal cases during the period under review. According to the data,
10 criminal cases were registered and solved in 2025, compared to 14 cases
reported during the same period in 2024.
Local authorities praised the
efforts and dedication of the officers and called for greater attention from
the government and strategic partners to strengthen
the police's operational capacity. They emphasized the urgent need for
support, particularly in rural and border areas where logistical challenges are
even more pronounced.
