Tourism activities in the Niassa Special Reserve are gradually returning to normal following a suspension caused by terrorist attacks that occurred in May this year.
The Reserve’s administrator, Terêncio Tamele, announced in public that the stability is being restored, and most of the local communities that had fled to the district headquarters and other areas are now returning to their places of origin.
"The Defense and Security Forces remain on the ground, working to prevent further terrorist attacks and to combat the illegal exploitation of natural resources," said Tamele.
The resumption of tourism is seen as a positive sign for the recovery of the region, which relies heavily on ecotourism and biodiversity conservation.
Local authorities are hopeful that the situation will continue to improve in the coming months, restoring the confidence of both visitors and investors. (Mozanorte)
