The neighborhood secretaries of Nacala Porto in
Nampula province are collecting data on children who do not have free
documentation, which is currently in progress.
The arrival of the President of the Republic of
Mozambique, Daniel Chapo, in Nacala Porto marked the beginning of the delivery
of documents to children and adults who still do not have them. The birth
certificate and the narrative certificate are the main documents being issued,
allowing citizens to apply for their identity card.
According to the secretary who spoke with Mozanorte, he explained that this initiative will take place in all 41 neighborhoods of Nacala Porto. Since the start of the process, which began today, the third day has already been completed, and there is no rest for the secretaries, as this is a great opportunity for residents who have never had documents.
Due to misinformation circulating among the
neighborhood populations, many people have been submitting their names,
believing that the initiative is related to the distribution of materials for
those who have lost their homes or financial assistance for the rehabilitation
of their residences.
In response, the secretaries, upon becoming aware
of this misinformation, have begun to clarify the situation by explaining the
purpose of the initiative before registering people's names.
Before starting this work, the secretaries met
with the responsible authorities to clarify how the process will work in the
first phase.
Initially, the registration of children and adults
who have never had a birth certificate will be carried out, using the
secretaries' registers to facilitate the process in the coming days. The work
will begin in the smaller neighborhoods of the city and will conclude in the
larger ones (BP).
