It is very sad that, right in the middle of April
7, women are looking for water instead of celebrating the day. Some arrived in
the morning with their containers to collect water, but by noon there was no
precious liquid, and some use their children to manage the queue.
This is not the first time that Mozanorte has
published about this problem in the same area, but so far nothing has changed.
The municipality of Nacala Porto has already built a water supply building, but
there is still no distribution to homes; so far, only three taps have been installed
outside this building.
These three taps are where all the women in this region struggle to obtain the precious liquid. Even with this problem, workers do not start their jobs early in the morning; they have specific hours for opening and starting their services. The 1 de Junho zone belongs to the Ontupaia neighborhood.
It is concerning that the residents of Ontupaia
do not realize what is happening with the municipality because outside of this
small supply, the area still relies on old connections from FIPAG itself, but
water does not flow from the taps.
Last year, residents of Ontupaia in the 1 de
Junho zone were happy to see the work being done by FIPAG, thinking there would
be changes in the suffering that women face day after day.
The promises made by the competent authorities
before completing the construction are not being fulfilled because the greatest
hope of residents was for water distribution to homes and for water to flow day
and night (BP).
