This Sunday, July 27, 2025, the Governor of Cabo Delgado, Valige Tauabo, visited the displaced families who were victims of the recent terrorist attacks and are staying in two centers in the district headquarters town of Chiúre.
On his agenda during his visit to
Chiúre, Tauabo, he expressed his solidarity, comforted them, and conveyed
messages of hope to those fellow citizens who are currently displaced and in
need of support. There are more than 11,980 displaced people housed in the
Miconi and Namisir Neighborhood Transit Center, originating from the
communities of the Chiúre-Velho Administrative Post, according to data provided
by the Permanent Secretary of the District, Fernando Ticho.
In his interaction with the
families, the leader urged continued heightened vigilance, reporting those with
questionable behavior, promoting unity and solidarity, and providing support to
the defense and security forces. He also invited believers of all faiths to
pray for the end of this conflict and the guarantee of peace and security.
Some fellow citizens housed in the
two centers who spoke at the meeting, namely Guedes Moreira Mussa, Samuel
Moripa, and Benjamim Joaquim, thanked the governor for the visit and the prompt
response of the defense and security forces, and local authorities. However,
they requested that the availability of water, food, and other necessities be
guaranteed.
In response to these and other
concerns, Cabo Delgado Governor Valige Tauabo said that the Provincial
Government, through the National Institute for Disaster Management (INGD), has
already provided and sent various food products to the Chiúre district, such as
rice, corn flour, butter beans, cooking oil, and salt, to support displaced
families.
Also in the district headquarters
town of Chiúre, Tauabo interacted with young motorcycle taxi drivers and
others, discouraging them from engaging in practices that jeopardize the safety
and stability of communities. (GIGP)
